1. Bollywood Sends in Birthday Wishes for Amitabh Bachchan

As the megastar of Bollywood turns a year older today, wishes have been pouring in from the industry for Amitabh Bachchan. On his 77th birthday, celebrities took to social media to wish Big B a very happy birthday.

In a long heartfelt post, Karan Johar wrote, “I was a 3 or 4 years old when I began to realise the magnitude of the man....subsequently I had the privilege of growing up around him ... I was first told I must always touch his feet as a mark of respect...but very soon after it came absolutely naturally to me...in fact it’s now a reflex action when I see him and I can never stop myself.”

2. Amidst Backlash, Netflix to Release Show on Hindu Gods

Last month, a member of the Shiv Sena had filed a complaint against Netflix for ‘allegedly’ creating shows that propagate an anti-Hindu sentiment. The letter mentions shows like Leila, Sacred Games, Ghoul and Hasan Minhaj’s Patriot Act.

Now Netflix has green lit an animated series for kids about Hindu Gods - Ganesha, Kali, Krishna and Saraswati learning at deity day-care centre.

3. Twitter Calls out Deepika’s Mental Health Closet Sale

On World Mental Health Day celebrated on 10 October, Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone took to social media to announce a closet sale. Calling it the ‘Deepika Padukone Closet’, Deepika’s initiative was meant to support her organisation - the Live Love Laugh foundation which seeks to assist those suffering with mental health. In a video posted by the actor, Deepika can be heard saying that she’s putting up some items from her closet for sale and the proceeds from the same will go to the organisation.

Despite the good intentions, the initiative did not go well with many netizens. Some users on Twitter blamed Deepika for reducing mental health to her “capitalist ambitions”.

4. Watch Team ‘Good Newwz’ Nail the Bala Challenge

Akshay Kumar has brought some of the Housefull 4 madness to the sets of his other upcoming film Good Newwz. Kareena Kapoor, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani joined Akshay in recreating his moves from the song ‘Shaitan Ka Saala’.

The video of ‘Shaitan Ka Saala’ shows Akshay as the demented, bald king Bala, dancing alongside a group of women as he hails himself the Devil’s relative. Shortly after the song released Akshay challenged fans to recreate his steps from the video in the #BalaChallenge.
