Here’s what a source told Pinkvilla:

“Deepika has a good role because she plays Kapil’s wife Romi Bhatia who was also a pageant winner. In fact, as far as the story goes, she had left the stadium after India started losing the wickets. But when she heard that they are on the verge of winning the World Cup, she came back to the stadium. That part is extremely dramatic. Also, the film will delve into the relationship between the husband and wife, their love story.

Apparently, Deepika loved the script when it was narrated to her as it came across as not just inspirational, but very touching and emotional as well. ‘83 will also be Deepika’s second venture as a producer.

The prep for ‘83 is in full swing. Gully Boy actor Ranveer Singh has been sharing photos from the sets of the film for quite some time. From getting first hand insight into what happened in 1983 from Kapil Dev himself to training with former Indian cricketer Mohinder Amarnath, the actor seems to be very excited for Kabir Khan’s directorial.
