Akshay Kumar is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Mission Mangal, set to hit the theatres on 15 August. At the trailer launch of the film, Akshay spoke about the showdown between Kangana Ranaut and PTI journalist Justin Rao.

Speaking to the media, Akshay said, “Hame aapki bohot zarurat hai (We all need you). I believe that we can reach out to people and express our opinions through the media. I hope this misunderstanding gets solved. I am not too clued in into this matter because I was in London. It is unfortunate, but I hope everything gets solved.”

Some time back, Kangana Ranaut got into a huge spat with a journalist from PTI for bashing her film Manikarnika. When Justin Rao introduced himself, she immediately dug up the old topic and said, “You were bashing Manikarnika. Have I done anything wrong by making a film on nationalism? You called me a jingoistic woman who is making a film on nationalism.” To which the journalist replied that he hadn’t tweeted anything along the same lines. “You cannot intimidate a journalist because you are in a power position”, he said.

After that, the Entertainment Journalists’ Guild had written an open letter to Ekta Kapoor, demanding an apology from Kangana.

The letter read: “We, the members of Entertainment Journalists’ Guild of India, demand a written public statement from you, Balaji Films and Ms Ranaut, condemning the incident and in particular Ms Ranaut's behaviour. We as a guild, collectively decided to boycott Ms Ranaut and give any media coverage. Rest assured, we will not let this matter affect Judementall Hai Kya in any manner and will be supportive of your film and other cast members, barring Ms Ranaut.”
