These 8 Bollywood Ganpati songs will have you grooving this festive season.
Ganesh Chaturthi is finally here and everyone is looking forward to welcoming Ganpati Bappa into the comfort of their homes. Bollywood too shares its excitement for the 11-day festival through its long list of peppy numbers for the much revered Ganesh festival. So add these top Ganpati numbers to your playlists and amp up the celebratory mood this festive season. And, of course, don’t forget to collectively chant - Ganpati Bappa Morya!
Any Body Can Dance (2013): Sadda Dil Vi Tu Ga Ga Ganpati
ABCD had all the blessings of Ganesha. No wonder all the film’s Ganpati songs were big hits, just like the film. And as Prabhudheva says, ‘any body can dance’ when it comes to Ganpati celebrations.
Agneepath (2012): Deva Shree Ganesha
From the remake of the 1990 cult film Agneepath starring Hrithik Roshan, this song is a real treat. A larger than life film set, Hrithik and Priyanka’s screen presence and Ajay Gogavale’s devotional voice make this number a Ganesh Chaturthi anthem.
Wanted (2009): Mera Hi Jalwa
This is probably the only song that’s not a bhajan but is a super hit among Ganesha devotees nevertheless. Salman Khan might also have a lot to do with the massive success of this number. And with Prabhudheva, Govinda and Anil Kapoor joining in, this one just had to be a hit with the masses.
Don (2006): Morya Re
After Hrithik and Salman, it’s time to shake your leg with the king himself, Shah Rukh Khan. The Morya Re number from the 2006 remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s Don, showcases the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi in all its splendour. Shankar Mahadevan’s voice is a perfect match for Shah Rukh’s dance moves.
Viruddh (2005): Shree Ganeshay Dheemahi
This song is a personal favourite. In the booming voice of Shankar Mahadevan, this aarti from the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Viruddh will never fail to touch your soul, bringing out the spiritual side of you as Ganpati madness takes over the city.
Vaastav (1999): Sindoor Lal Chadayo
As the film reaches its climax this aarti became a symbol of the good defeating the evil. This devotional track from Vaastav has a Maharashtrian flavour to it and is played without fail, year after year, in every Ganpati pandal.
Mahaanta (1997): Deva O Deva Ganpati Deva
There just had to be a Ganpati song picturised on Madhuri Dixit. So here it is, not one but two songs! One from the 1997 film Mahaanta and the other from the 1993 film Aasoo Bane Angaarey. What makes these songs special are Madhuri’s graceful dance moves. And what better way to bring in Ganesh Chaturthi than to dance along with Madhuri.
Aasoo Bane Angaarey (1993): Ganapati Bappa Agle Baras
Marathi mulgi Madhuri Dixit is again seen here dancing on the streets of Mumbai praying to Ganpati Bappa asking him to come early next year.
