4. Team ‘Befikre’ Wins Rishi Kapoor With A ‘Chandni’ Inspired Poster

The Befikre trailer reminded Rishi Kapoor of his Yash Chopra super hit Chandni (1989). He tweeted saying that Aditya Chopra’s directorial comeback could turn out to be a new-age and more adult version of the romantic classic. The film’s makers it seems, couldn’t agree more.

So team Befikre got photoshopping and this is how they thanked Rishi Kapoor for all the praise.

The clever line to go with the idea reads, “Chandni, those who dare to tweet”. Check out the film’s trailer here-

What’s also impressive about the Befikre duo Vaani Kapoor and Ranveer Singh is that they’ve reportedly managed to wrap up the film’s shoot in just 50 days. The love story has been shot largely in Paris and that’s why the makers decided to unveil the trailer at the iconic Eiffel Tower.

5. MAMI To Take Us Back To Shah Rukh’s Early Cinema With ‘Ahamaq’

Shah Rukh Khan's unreleased mini series-turned-film Ahamaq will be screened at the upcoming 18th edition of the Mumbai Film Festival. The film was first released as a four part TV mini-series on Doordarshan in 1991. The actor tweeted requesting all his fans to book tickets and go back with him down memory lane to what was his first foray into cinema. Directed by Mani Kaul, the film was first released as a four part TV mini-series on Doordarshan in 1991. Later, in 1992, Ahamaq was also screened at the New York Film Festival. But it never saw the light of day commercially.

Based on Fyodor Dostoevsky’s novel The Idiot, Ahamaq will feature in MAMI’s brand new section called, ‘The New Medium’. This segment will be curated by artist Shaina Anand and the unedited mini-series will be presented as a four-hour long film. Key members of the original cast and crew including actor Meeta Vasisht and cinematographer Piyush Shah among others will talk about their experience of working with Kaul and Khan in Ahamaq.

Interestingly, the film will be accompanied by a live background score performed by the Vitaly Tkachuk Quartet from Ukraine. The section will feature the best in innovative film-making by scouring the living history of cinema – from its inception to the contemporary moment.

Among the 14 titles that will screen throughout the festival are Uday Shankar’sKalpana (1948) restored by the World Cinema Foundation, and an iconic work of expanded cinema – the two-screen Light Music (1975) by Lis Rhodes, will be installed inside the theatre.

The 18th Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival will showcase a variety of cinematic expressions from 20 to 27 October.
