After shooting some crucial scenes with Rajinikanth and his Khiladi 420 co-star Sudhanshu Pandey in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar is currently burning the midnight oil in Chennai for the ongoing schedule of Robot 2. Director Shankar, who has a long-standing reputation for shooting important scenes behind closed doors, has filmed important scenes on Akshay Kumar and other supporting actors in the popular Forum Vijaya Mall located in Vadapalani, Chennai.
“Rajinikanth is not part of this schedule and will join the team later this week. Shankar obtained special permission from the mall administrators and prepped for the shoot since 12 AM last night. After all the pre-arrangements, Akshay arrived to the spot at around 1 AM and the team started shooting from 2 AM and continued through the wee hours of the morning till 6 AM today,” informs a source close to the unit.
Akshay Kumar, who essays a robotic villain character in the movie, recently launched the album of composer-actor GV Prakash’s Enakku Innoru Per Irukku in Chennai as a goodwill gesture for Lyca Productions, the makers of the film. This schedule is expected to go on for a week and the team will next fly down to Morocco or Bolivia in June depending on the weather conditions in the respective countries.
Amy Jackson plays an important role in the film, which has music composed by double Oscar award-winning composer AR Rahman. Acclaimed cinematographer Nirav Shah is shooting the film in 3D technology and national award-winning VFX expert Srinivas Mohan of Baahubali fame is working in unison to incorporate photo-realistic performance capture method in pivotal sequences.
Meanwhile, Superstar Rajinikanth is gearing up for the release of highly-anticipated gangster drama Kabali, which is slated to hit cinemas on July 1st.The film is expected to release in nearly 800 screens in Tamil Nadu alone, as per initial trade reports.
