Taking to Twitter, Gandhi asked Congress party workers to remain vigilant after the polling in Rajasthan and Telangana on Friday.

In his tweet, Gandhi also pointed out alleged EVM malfunctioning during Madhya Pradesh (MP) polls.

Congress’ EVM Battle

The Congress party has repeatedly raised concerns over the security of EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines) inside strongrooms and their handling during the counting process in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

Top Congress leaders in MP, including Kamal Nath, Digvijay Singh and Jyotiraditya Scindia, have also taken up the issue with the EC.

Two petitions were filed on Tuesday in Madhya Pradesh High Court in connection with EVMs used in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls held on 28 November.

Congress leader Naresh Saraf sought direction from the high court to set up a special investigation team (SIT) to probe alleged irregularities in the handling of reserve EVMs in Bhopal, Satna, Sagar, Shahjapur and Khandwa.

The petitioner's counsel Shashank Shekhar said no separate facility was created to keep the unused reserve EVMs after polling was held.

The Congress on Wednesday, 5 December, also submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission, seeking a probe into the blank postal ballots found unclaimed at the state police's Home Guard office.

The poll watchdog, meanwhile, said action has been initiated against three Home Guard personnel for "dereliction of duty" in this connection.

The Congress on Thursday, 6 December, also filed a writ petition in Chhattisgarh High Court, seeking directions to the EC for maintaining strict security at the strongrooms housing EVMs, which contain the votes cast in the last month’s Assembly polls.

The petition also demanded counting of VVPAT paper slips used in EVMs in 50 percent of booths in all the constituencies.

The HC posted the matter for hearing on 10 December, a day before the counting of votes polled in the 90-Assembly seats on 12 November and 20 November.
