Former Congress Spokersperson, Priyanka Chaturvedi, who had joined the Shiv Sena recently has been appointed as the party’s ‘Upneta’ (Deputy Leader). This is the first party role offered to Chaturvedi who joined the Sena on 19 April.

Chaturvedi thanked Udhav Thackery for the position on Twitter and said that she will fulfill her duties to the best of her abilities.

She tweeted, “Thank you Uddhav Thackeray ji for giving me an organisational role and responsibility, so as to contribute to the party to the best of my ability.”

Chaturvedi had resigned from the Congress after the party reinstated some local leaders who had misbehaved with her in Mathura, during a press conference over the Rafale deal. The Congress had earlier suspended the accused leaders, but later overturned their decision keeping the elections in mind.
