Former JNU Students Union president Kanhaiya Kumar took a dig at Union minister Giriraj Singh, who has expressed his ‘’reluctance’’ in contesting from Bihar’s Begusarai. Kanhaiya, who is contesting from Begusarai on a CPI ticket tweeted, “The ‘visa minister’ from the ‘Pakistan Tour And Travels’ department who forcefully sends people to Pakistan is hurt on having to go from Nawada to Begusarai.”

Giriraj Singh had stirred controversy ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha polls when he said "those opposed to Narendra Modi should go to Pakistan."

Giriraj is apparently unhappy over his Nawada seat going to ally LJP. He said in an interview, “My self respect is hurt that no other MP's seat was changed in Bihar. It was decided without talking to me. State BJP leadership should tell me why was it done. I've nothing against Begusarai but I can't compromise with my self respect.”

The Pakistan Jibes

The official handle of Rashtriya Janata Dal put out a sarcastic tweet poking fun at the Minister, saying “Gidhraj is a big drama queen. The one who wants to send everyone to Pakistan is scared of going to his home district.”

The tweet also called him ‘Girgitraj’ implying the minister changes colours often.

Many quoted him from 2014 when he had reportedly said “We will conquer even Lahore if Modi comes to power”. “He has lost Nawada. Forget about Lahore,” Twitter users said.

Scared of ‘Anti-National’ Kanhaiya?

Some Twitter users said he doesn’t want to contest from Begusarai because he is scared of Kanhaiya Kumar, who will face him in the polls.

Isn’t Kanhaiya an ‘anti-national’ according to you? Then why fear? Twitter asked the minister.

Another Twitter user asked the BJP IT Cell to run the trend #GirirajSinghFattuHai or #BhagodaGirirajSingh.

Another journalist said that Giriraj Singh’s “roar turned to tears with the change of seats.”

Matter Of Pride

Journalist Rohini Singh said his “self respect awoke when he realised he may poll lesser votes than the person he spent the last five years demonising.”

His reputation is at stake, said one Twitter user.
