Following the announcement of its first list of candidates for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) released the second list of five candidates, with party chief Sharad Pawar's grand-nephew Parth Pawar being named as the candidate from Maval constituency.

Parth Pawar is the son of the NCP chief's nephew and former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

The other four nominees who figure in the NCP's second list, all from parliamentary constituencies in Maharashtra, are Dhanraj Haribhau Mahale (Dindori), Sameer Bhujbal (Nashik), Amol Kolhe (Shirur) and Bajrang Sonawane (Beed).

However the suspense continues on the candidates for the crucial Ahmednagar and Madha seats.

NCP's Maharashtra unit President Jayant Patil said discussions are still underway and the names are likely to be announced soon.

On Thursday, the party had named 12 candidates, including one from an ally, Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana party, in Hatkanagale Lok Sabha constituency.

While 11 of the candidates were from Maharashtra, one was from the sole Lok Sabha seat of the Lakshwadeep Islands.

As per the first list, Supriya Sule would be contesting from Baramati, from where she has been an MP since 2009. The other candidates named were Sanjay Dina Patil (Mumbai North East), Anand Paranipe (Thane), Sunil Tatkare (Raigad), Udayanraje Bhosale (Satara), Dhananjay Mahadik (Kolhapur), Rajesh Vitekar (Parbhani), Gulabrao Devkar (Jalgaon), and Mohammad Faisal (Lakshwadeep).

The first list came two days after NCP chief Sharad Pawar clarified he will not be contesting in the upcoming general elections.
