The tenth edition of the Indian Premier League hasn’t only been about the big T20 players. Several youngsters are at the forefront of the competition.

In a star-studded Mumbai Indians side, Nitish Rana, who has played only 34 T20 matches in his career so far, has been the team’s best batsman in the competition.

And opening batsman Rahul Tripathi has provided excellent starts for the Rising Pune Supergiant throughout the season.

The young cricketers are taking on the best of the world with full confidence and it’s paying off for the respective franchises.

Here’s a look at five uncapped players who have lit up this year’s IPL.

1. Nitish Rana

Nitish Rana has been the biggest find for India in the IPL so far. While batting at number 3, the left-hand batsman has scored 312 runs in 10 matches at a strike rate of 129.46.

His calm and controlled style of batting has allowed the stalwarts in his team – Rohit Sharma, Jos Buttler and Kieron Pollard – to play without much pressure at the other end.

Rana is currently the 12th highest run-getter in IPL 10. He has notched 3 fifties in the tournament so far.

2. Rahul Tripathi

Rising Pune Supergiant’s opening batsman Rahul Tripathi has provided the perfect impetus with Ajinkya Rahane at the top of the order. He has scored 352 runs in 9 matches at an average of 39.11.

The 26-year-old has recorded a 30-plus score in 7 out of the 9 games he has played in the IPL so far.

Tripathi scored his highest T20 score (93 runs) against Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday.

The right-hand batsman has played only 22 T20s in his career so far. He is only going to get better from here.

3. Krunal Pandya

India can stop worrying about finding all-rounders because there are too many of them coming up through the ranks. First, Hardik Pandya showed tremendous potential as a seaming all-rounder and now his brother Krunal Pandya is growing in stature rapidly.

The left-arm batsman and off-spinner has got 136 runs and 10 wickets in the competition.

Pandya, who is a handy lower order batsman, played a brilliant innings against Royal Challengers Bangalore on 14 April.

The 26-year-old joined Kieron Pollard when Mumbai Indians were tottering at 33/5. He played the second fiddle role perfectly and took his team over the line with a score of 37 runs off 30 balls.

4. Manan Vohra

Manan Vohra has been a consistent performer for the Kings XI Punjab since he joined the team in 2013 and this season is no different.

The 23-year-old helps Kings XI Punjab get off to quick starts along with the calm and composed Hashim Amla.

Vohra has scored 179 runs in 8 matches at a whopping strike rate of 155.65.

The right-hand batsman almost single-handedly took his team to victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

He scored 95 runs off 50 balls against a good bowling attack, but got out when Punjab needed 15 runs from 9 balls (target: 160) to win the match.

Eoin Morgan was the second highest run scorer for Punjab with 13 runs.

5. Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer may not have notched too many big scores in the tournament, but he has done enough to show his potential.

The 22-year-old, who earned his first Test call-up during the series between India and Australia, has scored 190 runs in 7 matches.

He played a brilliant innings of 50* off 31 balls against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, but unfortunately couldn’t take his team over the line when they were chasing a target of 192 runs.
