COVID-19: Maharashtra, West Bengal Report Biggest Single Day Spike

The number of coronavirus cases in India jumped by 6,767 cases to 1,31,868 on Sunday, 24 May, while the death toll rose by 147 to 3,867. According to Health Ministry data, there are now 73,560 active cases across the country, while 54,440 patients have been cured or discharged and one has migrated.

3,041 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Maharashtra today, taking the total number of positive cases in the state past 50,000. This is also the most number of cases reported in one day. West Bengal reported 208 new COVID-19 confirmed cases and three deaths on Sunday, which is the highest number of cases reported in the state in one day.

A 25-year-old man tested positive for coronavirus in Sikkim on Saturday, 23 May. This is the first case of COVID-19 recorded in the state during the pandemic.

West Bengal Reports Biggest Single Day Spike With 208 Cases

West Bengal reported 208 new COVID-19 confirmed cases and three deaths on Sunday, which is the highest number of cases reported in one day.

The total number of positive cases in the state has now risen to 3,667, including 2,203 active cases and 203 deaths, ANI reports, quoting the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal.

Tamil Nadu has issued guidelines for domestic flights entering the state. These guidelines are applicable in addition to the instructions of Ministry of Civil Aviation regarding all precautionary and preventive measures.
