China approved the first nasal spray vaccine for a trial to combat Covid-19 that has claimed over 904,000 lives and infected more than 27 million people globally.
Amid an increase in Covid-19 cases in Delhi, health minister Satyendar Jain said that ICU beds in hospitals to be increased, plasma therapy to continue in Delhi, as directed by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
The Health Ministry on Thursday, 10 September, urged states and Union territories to mandatorily retest all symptomatic negative cases of rapid antigen tests using the more accurate RT-PCR test.
"This is necessary to ensure that such symptomatic negative cases do not remain untested and do not spread the disease among their contacts. This will also ensure early detection and isolation/hospitalisation of such false negatives. The aim of states/UTs should be to ensure that no potentially positive case is missed out," the Centre said.
Meanwhile, India on Thursday reported 95,735 new cases of coronavirus, the biggest one-day spike yet, taking the tally in the country to 44,65,864. The death toll increased by 1,172 to 75,062. According to the Health Ministry data, there are currently, 9,19,018 active cases across the country, while 34,71,783 patients have been discharged, and one had migrated.
