Maharashtra on Tuesday, 28 July, reported 7,717 new COVID-19 cases and 282 fatalities, taking the tally in the state to over 3.91 lakh and the death toll to 14,165. Meanwhile, 1,056 new infections were recorded in Delhi, which took the tally in the national capital to 1,32,275. Notably, in both states, the number of recovered patients on Tuesday surpassed the number of new cases.
Meanwhile, lockdown in West Bengal for select days has been extended till 31 August, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced on Tuesday, adding there will be no lockdown on special occasions. Later, the state government’s Home Department stated that they are also withdrawing the complete lockdown announcement for 2 and 9 August.
