Watch: Robot Helps 6-Year-Old With Disability Attend School

Maeve Coffey, a six-year-old second-grader from New York City has spinal muscular atrophy. It affects her muscles and has rendered her confined to a wheelchair.

But, with the help of a “telepresence” bot, she is able to attend school and meet her friends, when she is too sick to leave home.

An ingenious device, it uses just an iPad and is attached to a mechanical arm that can ‘walk’ around and be her eyes when she is not in school. She is a gifted student, being in the 96th percentile, and the robot helps her have a normal schooling and education.
