(This poem has been written in the backdrop of growing tensions between India and Pakistan in the aftermath of the Uri terror attack, with the bilateral ties between the two countries worsening with every passing day.)

Spring had come to the valley
Flowers were in full bloom
Bees were all excited, unaware
Of the impending doom

The  bee flew across the fence
And sipped nectar at ease
Little did she know
the two nations were not at peace

Flowers did not discriminate
the foreigner across the border
Bee never realised
passport and visa were in order

The barbed wire on the fence
Was the bee's resting place
She was thankful for this innovation
by the thoughtful human race

The defence bunker on the hilltop
Was a vantage point
Not to kill or destroy, rather
to identify the next nectar joint

The fireworks and gun salute!
Is it Diwali and Id festival time?
She never understood humans
their reason and rhyme

In her simplicity she believed
in colours and in flowers
She was too naive to see the line
and clashing political powers
