PV Sindhu is stylish, but why are we making it sound like a miracle?

Yes, Olympics Silver medallist PV Sindhu is stylish, but why are we surprised? Look at these headlines, making her style to be a miraculous thing: as if the two qualities are a binary and that it should be a matter of such glee and celebration that a woman could be both.

Of course, it is commendable that PV Sindhu is keen to make a sartorial statement. She has even roped in a well known stylist, Shravya Varma, known to have styled women like Trisha, Lakshmi Manchu amongst others, to take care of her stylistic duties.

But this is 2016, a sportswoman can be stylish. Period. We don’t need overexcited headlines to drive home the point.

Although in the true spirit of womanhood, we will give her a silent nod of appreciation. Jiyo, Sindhu!
