A Hindu temple has been vandalised in the south Seattle suburb of Kent, the second such incident at a Hindu place of worship in Washington state this month.

Vandals used bricks to break several windows and painted the word “fear” on the wall of the Kent Hindu Temple on Thursday night.

Arsalan Bukhari, Executive Director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Washington, called for action to prevent the rhetoric that can lead to religious attacks.

“When a place of worship gets attacked, it’s a little late. I think the time to respond is when hate rhetoric is promoted,” he told local KOMO-TV.

Both the FBI and Kent police have been informed about the incident.

In February, a Hindu temple in the north Seattle suburb of Bothell was also vandalised, reported KOMO-TV.

A swastika and the words “get out” were painted on one of the walls of the Bothell Hindu Temple in the Seattle Metropolitan area.

A school in the same community was also targeted with similar messages.

A swastika and the words “Muslims get out” were spray-painted on a wall at Skyview Junior High School.
