The former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto, was assassinated on 27 December 2007 after she returned from exile. She was only 53 years old when she returned to the country from Dubai to contest elections after the end of General Pervez Musharraf’s military rule. There was an attack on her when she landed in Pakistan as well, which she had survived.

The trial into her killing is still going on – and Musharraf has been accused of being involved.
