On Tuesday (31 May) Vice Admiral Sunil Lanba took charge as the Chief of Naval Staff in New Delhi. He took over from the current CNS Admiral RK Dhowan, who has been in service for 40 years, according to The Hindu. On Monday, Lanba handed over charge to Vice Admiral Girish Luthra as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command. He had been appointed as the Chief of Naval Staff on 6 May.
