Valley Journalists Stage Protest Over Ban on Kashmir Reader

Days after authorities in Jammu and Kashmir moved to ban the Kashmir Reader, journalists and civil rights activists staged a massive protest against the clampdown in Srinagar on Wednesday.
On Sunday, Kashmir Reader, a popular English daily in the Kashmir Valley was asked to halt publication as the government feared that its continued reportage could incite further violence in the valley.
Editorial directors at the Kashmir Reader allege that the government clamped down on their four-year-old daily without serving any prior notice . They have now questioned the rationale behind the government’s move.
At least 90 people have died in Kashmir, after violent clashes broke out between stone-pelters and security forces following the killing of Hizbul terrorist Burhan Wani by the Indian Army.
