Uri Attack: Foreign Secretary Summons Pak High Commissioner

Basit was reminded of Pakistan’s solemn commitment to not allow terrorism against India to prosper in its soil.

The Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit was summoned by Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar, MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted on Wednesday. Swarup gave details of the meeting in a press conference.

He said that in the meeting Basit was reminded of Pakistan’s solemn commitment to not allow terrorism against India to prosper in its soil.

The MEA spokesperson also said that seventeen attempts by armed terrorists to cross the LoC and carry out attacks in India have been interdicted, also resulting in the killing of thirty one terrorists. Currently, he said two such engagements are ongoing at the LoC.
