In this episode of Urdunama, Fabeha Syed recites Nida Fazli’s nazm ‘bas yunhi jeetey raho, kuch na kaho’ .

The nazm could be understood as Fazli’s comment on those who are way too comfortable in their life to be making any political point on issues that matter.

The poem goes like this:

Bas yunhi jeetey raho

kuch na kaho

subh jab so ke utho

ghar ke afraad ki ginti kar lo

Taang par Taang rakhe roz ka akhbaar padho

'us jagah qaht gira'

'jang vahaan par barsi'

kitne mahfooz ho tum shukr karo

radio khol ke filmon ke naye geet suno

ghar se jab niklo to

shaam tak ke liye honthon mein tabassum si lo

donon hathon mein musaafe bhar lo

muhn mein kuch khokhle be-maani se jumle rakh lo

mukhtalif haathon mein sikkon ki tarah ghistey raho

kuch na kaho

ujli poshak

samaaji izzat

aur kya chahiye jeene ke liye

rose mil jaati hai peene ke liye

bas yunhi jeetey raho

kuch na kaho
