A six-month-old elephant died in Coimbatore early on Saturday. The elephant suffered and could not eat anything due to an infection in its mouth. As a result, the calf collapsed and died.

Forest officials and police officers tried to move the dead elephant but were stopped by the mother. After confirming the death of the calf the mother stood next to her baby and mourned by pouring water on its head. The mother refused to leave the vicinity even hours after the dead calf was taken away.
