Udta Punjab has run into serious trouble with the censor board, as it wants the hard hitting film to be based in a fictional place rather than Punjab. The board has also recommended 89 cuts! Shahid Kapoor, the film’s lead actor speaks exclusively to The Quint about why he feels that films can’t be made keeping in mind the expectations of the censor board.

Shahid truly hopes that Udta Punjab will reach the generation it is meant for, and is able to convey the important message it carries against substance abuse.
