Senior Patna Journalist Shot Dead in Siwan

Rajdev Ranjan, Siwan district chief of Hindi daily “Hindustan”, was fired at in Siwan district late Friday evening. He was travelling on his motorcycle near the fruit market on Station Road under the Town police station at around 7:45 PM on Friday.

Ranjan, 45, died on the way to hospital. The motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained. Ranjan had been writing for a long time against the law-breakers of the area. The killing has triggered a wave of protests by journalists in Bihar.
