(This video from The Quint’s archives has been reposted to mark World Food Day on 16 October.)

Actor Saumya Tandon is best known for her character Anita in the popular TV series Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hai! But she is also known to be a great cook and we can vouch for her skills at the kitchen. The actor cooked up a storm for us. Not only did she make us gluten-free pesto pasta, but she also taught us how to make it.

Saumya Tandon has hosted many shows like Dance India Dance, Bournvita Quiz Contest along with Derek O'Brien, as well as the second season of Entertainment Ki Raat. She made her Bollywood debut with Jab We Met. She shared with us the story of how she ended up working with Imtiaz Ali (did you know she auditioned for Rockstar for Nargis Fakhri’s character?). She also gave us all the behind-the-scenes dope on the sets of Bhabhiji Ghar Pe Hai!.

Watch the video to find out how the pesto pasta tasted, and here is the recipe if you want to try it at home.

STEP 1: Boil water & add salt according to taste
STEP 2: Add pasta to the boiling water
STEP 3: Drain out the water once pasta is cooked
STEP 4: Mix the following ingredients for the pesto sauce:
- 1 cup basil leaves
- 2 tsp olive oil
- Grated Parmesan cheese (according to taste)
- 2 tsp Pine nuts
- 1/2 pod garlic (optional)

Note: Do not make a fine paste; you want it to be grainy.

Method:

Heat 1 tsp olive oil in a pan. Add boiled pasta to the pan and cook. Make a paste of 1 tsp mascarpone cheese with a little milk and add to the pasta. Add the pesto sauce. Mix it well. Your gluten-free pasta in pesto sauce is ready!
