Canadian stand-up comedian Russell Peters, of Anglo-Indian descent, is currently on his ‘Deported’ world tour, for which he is in India. Recently named the "50 Best Comics of All Time” by Rolling Stone, Russell Peters spoke about his journey so far.

“Our people aren’t in that industry and I was like that’s exactly why I’m going to go into this, because we’re not represented.”

He also spoke about the change in the industry and how he thinks people need to stick to being themselves or they will soon fizzle out:

“You can’t look at it like competition, you have to look at it about being you. And the trick in comedy is to be you. If you be you, then nobody else can copy you because there can only be one you.”
Russell Peters

He also spoke about how his comedy has become less aggressive and why that is:

“I mean I’m going to be fifty years old next year. I have two kids, I mean you can’t maintain the same intensity and angst of a younger person when you’re older...”
Russell Peters

Russell has bagged The Emmy, Gemini and Peabody awards and is currently in India as part of his Deported world tour. He will be performing in Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai.
