The brouhaha around India’s surgical strikes along the LoC may not have gripped the world’s attention as we would have liked, but it has engaged both India and Pakistan in an endless debate of “who’s better than whom” and “who exactly did what, where, and when”.
A senior Pakistani Journalist, Amber Rahim Shamsi sheds light on the Pakistani narrative around the surgical strikes.
India announced on 28 September that it had carried out “surgical strikes” on terrorist camps in Pakistan Controlled Kashmir, a step that risked escalating the conflict between the two nuclear powers.
Pakistan, on the other hand, denied that a cross-border strike had taken place, saying that Indian troops had fired small arms across the Line of Control, killing two soldiers and injuring nine.
As time elapsed, Indian Opposition leaders proclaimed their ‘lack of belief’ in the strikes conducted by India and demanded ‘proof’. The Army has made a few video public but the Centre has denied its circulation.
Pakistan’s denial also comes on the heels of India’s steps to 'isolate’ the country internationally.
