5,211 dancers – aged between four and 72 – set a world record in front of a cheering crowd of more than 55,000.

Choreographer Jitha Binoy led the successful attempt at the record for largest Kaikottikali dance, performed as part of the Thanima Arts Festival in Irinjalakuda in Kerala in January.

The Kaikottikali is one of the most popular South Indian dance forms. It is performed exclusively by women, particularly during the Malayali festival of Onam.
