Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on 26 September said that a magisterial enquiry has been ordered into the lathi-charge that took place in Banaras Hindu University (BHU).

A magisterial enquiry has been ordered into the incident, where some journalists were also lathi-charged. The administration has been advised to not trouble any student, but deal strongly with anti-social elements vitiating the atmosphere.

Th UP government also blamed the violence on Opposition parties for trying to vitiate the academic atmosphere.
