Hardik Patel, a Patidar agitation leader, has joined the Congress party in Gujarat. While the 10 percent reservation to the economically weaker section of the society has taken the sting out of the Patidar agitation, the Congress continues to bet big on Patel.

So, how much of a difference will he make to the party's prospects? Patel tells BloombergQuint’s Tamanna Inamdar why he joined Congress.

Patel had joined the Congress on Tuesday, 12 March, in the presence of party president Rahul Gandhi and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

Justifying his decision to enter active politics ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, Patel had said he could now work for the six crore people of Gujarat in a better way.
