It has been seven months since Yogi Adityanath assumed office as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, and it appears that saffron is the colour of his tenure. His decision to paint the walls of the Secretariat saffron, right after his nod for saffron-coloured buses in the city, has stirred up a wave of uneasiness.

"Colour politics" is evident in every bit of the Uttar Pradesh government. From the official website of the state to the booklet of the Information Department, to school bags of government-run schools, and even Yogi’s own Twitter handle – all of it is saffron.
