In an exclusive interview with The Quint, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha spoke about the benefits of the UDAN India Scheme. He said that under the UDAN Scheme, the capacity of the aviation sector is expected to increase threefold in the next 10-15 years. The scheme also allows for a price cap on 50 percent of the seats, and will charge a nominal sum of Rs 2,500 for a one-hour long flight.

He further added that the scheme also looks to promote regional airlines under its purview.
