You may find snakes creepy and slimy and would definitely not want to encounter one in your wildest dreams. However, this woman has undertaken the job of breeding snakes at her farm in Chongqing, China.

Hu Xiaoxia, known to the locals as 'Cobra Queen,' started taking care of the farm in 2014, and has since bred up to 1,000 different species of snakes, among them a number of cobras.

“I need to clean the room of snakes first thing every morning, and check the temperature and humidity of the room," explained Hu Xiaoxia.

Snakes are ectothermic and their skin has a heat-clearing medical effect. Most local families consume snake wine for its medicinal properties.

Hu Xiaoxia produces snake wine, which the locals use to make medicinal liquor. Cobra skin is also considered to have heat-clearing properties in traditional Chinese medicine.

“The cobra is a hyper-toxic animal. I am in touch with them every day. You should know what you are supposed to do if you are bitten. You should know how to protect yourself," stated Hu Xiaoxia.

This is strange to believe but people can have affection towards these poisonous reptiles.
