A toy that lets you hug your loved ones from afar was showcased at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas.

When hugged, the plush toy sends a wireless signal that turns into a vibration in another toy, preselected on a cellphone app, allowing remote family, friends, and lovers to 'physically' connect from afar.

The idea was born when I was in a distant relationship and at some point, I really needed a hug and there weren’t any solutions to that, so I invented Parihug.

Foxlin also said that video-calling has helped a lot of people, but her effort is to "convey emotions over the internet."

Parihug was displayed at the Tech Startup Spotlight on the first day of SXSW 2017.
