A 24-year-old businessman was killed in a bike accident in Delhi’s Sikandra Road area on Monday night. Himanshu Bansal, a resident of Vivek Vihar in east Delhi, was riding a Benelli TNT 600i super bike when he lost control and crashed into the wall of Lady Irwin College, The Times of India reported.

The GoPro footage fitted on the helmet of one of Bansal’s co-riders shows the bike swerving in an attempt to save a pedestrian, before colliding with the footpath.

Bansal was flung against the wall, while his bike spun at least 100 metres before coming to rest. Bansal’s helmet flew off and his head crushed in the impact.

The pedestrian, an elderly man, was injured in the incident, despite Bansal having swerved in an attempt to save him. Passersby rushed him to the hospital.

“We have registered a case under section of causing death due to negligence and rash driving based on eyewitness accounts. Actions might also be initiated against his friends who were also rashly driving along with him,” said BK Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi).
