“Triple talaq is an enormity which goes against the Constitution”

As the nation awaits the Supreme Court’s verdict on triple talaq, the question on everyone’s mind is what lies ahead.

The Quint spoke to former Union Minister Arif Mohammad Khan on triple talaq, the origins of Muslim personal law and the need for codification of Muslim personal laws. Explaining that Muslim laws were drafted in accordance with the kings’ wishes and don’t reflect the Quran, Khan argues that it’s the government’s responsibility to take steps to codify Muslim personal law.
