Ruckus unfolded in Rajya Sabha on Friday over allegations of Goa Governor Mridula Sinha having consulted Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley ahead of government formation in the coastal state. Leading the charge in the house was Leader of Opposition and Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, who asked as to why “the Governor had to consult an Union cabinet Minister on the Goa issue.’ Echoing Azad, the party’s Goa In-Charge Digvijaya Singh too raised questions on the Governor’s role. Interestingly, there seems to be a growing disquiet in Goa Congress over “mismanagement’ by those in operating in the higher echelons.

The Centre, let by the Bharatiya Janata Party hit back at the Congress, accusing it of “disrespecting the people’s mandate.”

The Chair, however, refused to entertain the Congress’ plea, asking it to file a consolidated motion instead.
