78-year-old Nand Lal became the face of demonetisation after he broke down outside an SBI bank in Gurgaon. Lal is a retired army man who has reportedly served the Indian Army on the India-Pakistan border along Kashmir and Punjab.

The picture of the old man in tears went viral on social media with a flood of shares and tweets.

'Demonetisation shouldn’t have taken place so suddenly’, says Lal. People have started to question if demonetisation was a move in favour of the poor or the rich?
