Speaking in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had never claimed that the ISI was behind last November’s Kanpur train accident to the ISI. The Minister’s response came after the Congress’ Digvijaya Singh demanded a clarification on the matter.

According to media reports, the PM had made the claim during a public rally in Gonda in Uttar Pradesh.

Responding to a question on compensations paid to family members of soldiers killed in cease-fire violations, Singh also said the Centre has decided to pay over Rs 1 crore to the kin of martyrs. The Home Minister’s statement came in response to a question from SP MP Sukhram Singh Yadav.
