At a poll rally in Gujarat’s Chhota Udepur district, Congress Vice President, Rahul Gandhi, promised loan waiver for the poor farmers of Gujarat.

The Quint’s reporter found out that voters present in the rally have faith in Gandhi’s promise. They were sure that if the Congress comes to power, Rahul Gandhi would waive loans for farmers in distress.

He said his party came out with a manifesto after consulting various sections of the society, such as the tribal communities, women and youth, and incorporated their demands.

The BJP has ruled here for the last 22 years. Now you have an opportunity to elect a government which would focus on you...Modi Ji waived off loan worth Rs1.3 lakh crore for top ten industrialists of the country. Farmers in Gujarat are begging for loan waiver. But Modi Ji and Arun Jaitley say it is not possible. Today I announce, that if we come to power, we will waive off loans for farmers within 10 days.

“Modi ji used to say that the BJP will rule in Gujarat for the next hundred years. But he does not say a single word about the future of Gujarat at his rallies,” the Congress leader added.

Voting for 89 seats of Saurashtra and south Gujarat will be held today, while that for 93 seats of north and central Gujarat, including Chhota Udepur, will be held on December 14.
