Rahul Visits SBI Branch to ‘Feel Aam Aadmi’s Pain’, Jumps Queue

The Congress Vice President also posed for a number of selfies during his chaotic visit.

On a day when customers scrambled to withdraw cash from inactive ATMs, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi visited a bank in Parliament Street to exchange old notes worth Rs 4,000.

Gandhi reached the State Bank of India branch in the afternoon, where he initially complained about not being allowed to stand in queue. When asked about the purpose of his visit, the Congress Vice President chided mediapersons, saying that they and the government were not capable of comprehending the plight of the common man.

After having expressed his solidarity with the common man, Gandhi then raced past existing queue to enter the bank complex. Once inside, the Congress VP posed for a number of selfies, while refusing to answer any further questions on the manner of his visit.

Gandhi’s chaotic visit to the bank comes on a day when ATMs across the country were expected to resume operations. The reality on the ground, however, remained bleak as several ATMs failed to dispense cash.
