Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav held their second joint press conference on Saturday in Lucknow, as the first day of Uttar Pradesh polls began.

The duo was present to launch the Congress-SP alliance's common minimum programme. They released the list of 10 commitments to the people of Uttar Pradesh, which includes smart phones, skill development, free cycles and homes for the poor.

The duo offered free smart phones, 20 lakh youth skill training, loan waiver for farmers, cheap power to farmers, 33 per cent reservation for women in government jobs.

They hit back at the Prime Minister’s verbal attacks against them and the former prime minister Manmohan Singh.

Bohot ghussa hona acchi baat nahi hai. Isse pata chalta hai pairon ke neeche se zameen sarak rahi hai. (There’s no need to be emotional. Modi’s anger shows that he is on the losing end.)
Akhilesh Yadav
PM Modi’s strategy is distraction. When he can’t answer questions, then he starts distracting. The truth is that in the last two-and-a-half years, he has failed.

Gandhi hit back at the PM’s jab about the Congress VP having the most jokes about him on Google by saying “he likes to Google and peep into other people’s bathrooms”.

Akhilesh attacked his age subtly saying, “Uttar Pradesh wants a young government now.”

“In the two-and-a-half years (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi has failed. Demonetisation, surgical strikes are avoidance tactics,” Gandhi said.

Akhilesh Yadav said: "If Modi visits Agra-Lucknow Expressway even he will vote for SP-INC."
