A clash between security forces and protesters broke out in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday after protesters reportedly hurled petrol bombs at polling stations.

Six protesters have been killed while at least four others were injured when security forces fired at demonstrating mobs at three places in central Budgam district of the Kashmir Valley, reports ANI.

The protesters damaged EVMs and prevented voters from exercising franchise in Srinagar-Budgam parliamentary seat bypoll.

Meanwhile, clashes broke out between Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress supporters in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind, where bypolls are underway.

According to news agency ANI, Congress workers were attacked and their vehicles vandalised, reportedly by local BJP workers. One Congress supporter claimed that police had helped BJP cadres in capturing polling booths in the area. He also alleged that bullets were fired at him by members of the BJP and that MP Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan had plotted attacks on him and other Congress workers.
