From West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to a former UPA finance minister (and now President of India), politicians across the spectrum have given a mixed verdict to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s surprise announcement to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes.

The move has left ordinary citizens queuing up outside ATMs, not long after the announcement was made at 8 pm.

Reactions from the political quarters too were instantaneous.
