Four men were thrashed in the presence of police personnel by a motley of cow vigilantees on suspicion of smuggling cattle in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul.

The men were first hauled up by local cow vigilantees who beat them up. But when police arrived at the spot, they too thrashed the four and did little to stop the march of gau rakshaks.

A case has now been registered against both the victims and assailants, but so far, no arrests in the case have been made.
