A newly-wed couple found a special mention in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ for serving only tea to guests at their wedding in Surat.

Facing a cash crunch as a fallout of the note-ban issue, Sural newly weds Daksha and Bharat Parmar decided to serve only tea and water to guests at their wedding on 25 November. The entire ceremony cost them only Rs 500.

Reacting to PM Modi’s gesture, Daksha recounted how demonetisation had provided initial impetuous for the novel idea. She also thanked the Prime Minister for reaching out to the couple.

Hailing their decision as innovative, PM Modi also extended his best wishes to the couple.
