#GoodNews: Mumbai Cop Who Rescued Kids Now in Maha School Books

A woman cop of Mumbai’s Railway Protection Force (RPF) has achieved a unique distinction. Her noble deeds of rescuing destitute children from railway stations have been featured in the state textbooks.
Rekha Mishra, 32, hails from Allahabad and has an Army background. She joined the RPF in 2014 and since then, she and her team have rescued hundreds of lost, kidnapped or runaway children from various railway stations.
In an acknowledgement of her efforts, she has been featured in Maharashtra State Board’s Class 10 Marathi textbooks as a lesson.
Mishra said that it was a matter of great pride for her. “My work in the field of railway security or the safety of women and children could not have found a better opportunity for recognition,” she said.
Of the hundreds of children rescued by Mishra, the majority are from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The ultimate aim of Mishra and her team is to reunite these kids with their families. She even takes them to shelters in the meanwhile.
Mishra was also felicitated recently by Central Railway General Manager D K Sharma for her achievements.
