A two-day Mountain Terrain Biking (MTB) expedition was flagged off in Shimla on 12 June. The expedition is a part of the ongoing Himachal Pradesh Adventure Fest – a joint venture between the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) and the Indian Air Force.

Over 25 participants, including 15 Air Force personnel, took part in the expedition, which includes two sections of a 78-km-long mountain course.

The event’s main purpose is to explore natural beauty in and around Shimla. The best way to see any countryside is on a bicycle... Our basic objective is to popularise the activity and send a message that we have the capacity to organise such events.
Dinesh Malhotra, Managing Director, Himachal Pradesh Tourism Department

Depending on the success of the event, next year’s edition is expected to see the inclusion of adventure sports like motor safari and cross-country running.
